Tribute to the Late Hon. Rhoda Nakibuuka Nsibirwa Kalema

06 August 2025 In Memory of the Late Hon. Rhoda Nakibuuka Nsibirwa Kalema. Volcanoes Safaris is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of the Late Hon. Rhoda Kalema, a remarkable human being and a pioneering leader and advocate for women’s rights. I knew her as a child growing up in Uganda before the dark days of Amin's regime. She and my Aunt Mrs Hemantini Bhatia were actively involved in fighting for women’s rights in the 1960s. Mama Rhoda accomplished so much even though she lost her husband in tragic circumstances when she was still a young lady. Throughout her life Mama Rhoda showed great courage and humility and was deeply committed to justice, human rights and serving her country. In recent years I had the privilege to spend time with her again through my friendship with her daughter Dr Gladys. She was an inspiration to the end. We honor her memory and extend our deepest condolences to her family and loved ones. May she rest in peace. Praveen Moman Founder Volcanoes Safaris
