A Groundbreaking Discovery for the Kyambura Lion Monitoring Project
The Kyambura Lion Monitoring Team have recorded a groundbreaking discovery in Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda. Through the project’s lion monitoring and census work, the team and Uganda Wildlife Authority have been following an iconic male lion coalition between Jacob and Tibu.
Footage by Luke Oches and Alex Braczkowski has shown Jacob and Tibu successfully swimming across the Kazinga Channel, a piece of water notorious for its crocodile and hippopotamus populations. The swim was recorded to be approximately 1 mile long, a feat never before seen in the species.
