All Volcanoes lodge guests are invited and encouraged to participate in unique community and conservation activities run by Volcanoes Safaris Partnership Trust during their stay. See Appendix below for more details.
Conservation Partnerships
At all Volcanoes lodges we offer the opportunity for guests to meet our conservation partners and learn more about great ape and wildlife conservation. See Appendix below for more details.
Terms Summary
All rates are in US Dollars (USD).
Rates are effective on all new 2027 bookings made from 15 May 2026.
Rates are inclusive of current government taxes and levies, and may be subject to change without notice.
The rates above include accommodation and meals, soft drinks, standard and premium alcoholic drinks, signature cocktails, cellar collection wines (except French champagne), single malt whiskeys, laundry services, any activities at the lodges, and all massages (subject to booking and availability).
Volcanoes Safaris Partnership Trust community and conservation fee of $50 per guest per night funds community and conservation projects around the lodges.
Low season rates are applicable to bookings from 1 October to 14 December and 1 March to 31 May.
Children of 12 years and under staying in the same room as their parents pay US $100 per child per night. Children under 5 years stay for free.
Children of 12 years and under, occupying their own room pay adult rates.
The minimum age limit for children at Virunga Lodge is 12 years.
Payment policy
Lodge Only Bookings
A deposit of 20% of the invoice is payable upon receipt in order to confirm your booking.
For bookings for 4 rooms and above, the deposit payable is 35%.
The deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable.
Final balance is due 30 days prior to arrival.
For bookings within 30 days of arrival the full payment is due upon receipt of invoice.
If payments are not received by the due date the booking will be automatically released.

Chimpanzee Trekking at Kyambura Gorge Lodge
Guests trekking chimpanzees in Kyambura Gorge should use the Fig Tree Trail to walk from the lodge to the UWA starting point of the chimp trekking. A $25 per person fee, paid to Uganda Wildlife Authority, is included in the lodge rate.
Guests trekking in the morning will have a bush breakfast at the Fig Tree Pagoda as part of the walk from the lodge. After the chimp trek in the gorge they may choose to return by car to the lodge.
Guests trekking in the afternoon will go to the UWA starting point for chimp trekking by car and then walk along the Fig Tree Trail after their trek to return to the lodge. Guests will stop and have sundowner cocktails at the Fig Tree Pagoda.
Appendix A
Volcanoes Safaris Partnership Trust
All Volcanoes lodge guests are invited and encouraged to participate in unique community and conservation activities run by Volcanoes Safaris Partnership Trust during their stay. The activities below are available to book for all guests staying at Volcanoes lodges.
Please inform your VS sales consultant at the time of booking if you would like to include any of these activities for your clients during their stay. If the activity has a fee this must be paid at the time of booking. Your sales consultant will provide payment details.
Virunga
- Donate a sheep, water tank or solar panel to members of the local community near Virunga Lodge. $200 per person.
- Visit the new Virunga Community and Conservation Centre and meet carpentry and tailoring apprentices.
Mount Gahinga
- Visit the Gahinga Batwa Village. The village was built in 2018 to provide a permanent home to around 150 members of the Mgahinga Batwa Community. Lodge guests can visit the Batwa Community Centre and meet the village elders to learn about their culture and traditions.
- Take a guided walk on the Batwa Heritage Trail and visit the Vocational Centre.
Bwindi
- Visit Bwindi Bar, a hospitality training centre for young local people. Bwindi Bar serves a variety of delicious locally-inspired food and drinks, including the famous Ugandan ‘Rolex’ wrap and the signature ‘Gorillini’ cocktail!
- Take a traditional cooking class with a chef from Bwindi Lodge.
- Tea Processing Demonstration with members from the Bwindi Tea Cooperative.
- Visit the Bwindi Gorilla Conservation Center
Kyambura Gorge
- Visit the new Kyambura Discover Centre at Kyambura Gorge Lodge.
- Participate in the Kyambura Gorge Ecotourism Project, a series of connected conservation and community activities that aim to protect the gorge ecosystem.
Plant a tree as part of a contribution of 200 tree seedlings to the Kyambura Wildlife Buffer Zone. Starting from $200 per group.
Go birding in the Kyambura Wetlands.
Learn how coffee is harvested with the Kyambura Women’s Coffee Cooperative.
Donate a pair of camera traps to be used in the annual carnivore survey by the Kyambura Lion Monitoring Team in Queen Elizabeth National Park. $500.
Please allow one full day at Kyambura Gorge Lodge to participate in these activities.
Kibale
- Take a guided nature and birding walk to Lake Lugembe with an expert lodge wildlife guide and trainees from VSPT guiding program.
- Visit the Rwenzori Sculpture Gallery and Bronze Foundry, famous for their series of bronze sculptures of the traditional clan totems of Uganda.
Appendix B
Conservation Partnerships
At all Volcanoes lodges we offer the opportunity for guests to meet our conservation partners and learn more about great ape and wildlife conservation. The activities below are available to book for all guests staying at Volcanoes lodges.
Please offer these activities to your clients and inform our sales consultants at the time of booking so that they can include these activities on your invoice. VS will then book these activities for your clients to participate in during their stay at our lodges.
Virunga, Mount Gahinga and Bwindi:
Have a fireside chat over drinks with researchers from the Gorilla Doctors - $500 per group
Kyambura Gorge:
Have dinner and a presentation from the Kyambura Lion Monitoring Team at Kyambura Gorge Lodge - $200 per group
Kibale:
Have a fireside chat over drinks with primatologists from the Kibale Chimpanzee Project - $550 per group
Bwindi:
Visit Conservation Through Public Health headquarters in Bwindi for a behind the scenes tour of gorilla conservation and to gain an understanding of CTPH’s programs including gorilla health monitoring, community health and livelihoods. - $250 per group
